This Wednesday, in the pouring rain, the children and I went and donated three bags of clothes and toys to our local charity shop. We have all been having a good clear out and as well as selling lots on eBay it’s really nice to be able to give to a charity knowing the money they raise will help their cause.
Once we had passed our bags to the lovely lady who volunteers at the shop, I let the children have a quick look around whilst I checked there were no Val McDermid books that I haven’t already read (there wasn’t).
My son, however, did find a Star Wars Speeder Bike straight from the 1980’s that he was ‘desperate’ to own. When I saw it was only £2 I couldn’t say no.
Which, of course, meant that my daughter really wanted something too. She loves reading as much as me and was looking at their children’s books when she noticed a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book that she doesn’t own. I didn’t think it was possible as I thought she had all of them possible! I then noticed that they were having an amazing sale on children’s books – 8 for £1!!
So, we gave three bags of toys and clothes and came out with one new toy and eight books! And I only spent £3 so I think it was a bargain!
I love shopping in charity shops, you never know what you are going to find!
I love my local charity shop. We only have one within walking distance and everything is £3 or under.
Today I went for a look with my children and picked up a lovely purple/pink top for myself that will look lovely with a pair of jeans. Bargain at £2
My daughter complained that it was all grown up stuff until I pointed out the children’s section! She picked up a lovely Florence & Fred top again for £2.
Finally I had a look at the books even though I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more until i had read everything that I have. Until I looked at the cookbooks. I bought a Hairy Bikers diet cookbook for £1. I offered it to my mum but she already had it. I’m quite glad because there are quite a few recipes I want to try!
Today was a good day.
Last week still tops it for best bargain buys at the charity shop.
A AT-AT, a AT-ST and an X-Wing from Star Trek for my youngest. I got all of these for £6. And they are in brilliant condition. I’m just gutted I missed the Millenium Falcon by about 3 minutes!
I love charity shops. There can be some fantastic things for really great prices. A colleague once bought a Louis Vuitton handbag for £6. Turns out it was worth a couple of hundred pounds. I’m never that lucky!
Today, however at my local Cancer Research shop I spent a grand total of £6 and got a special item in the mix.
I started off with a new bag. I wasn’t looking for a bag but I loved the colour of this one. I have no idea where it is from as there are no labels but the tassels had me sold! £2!
I started looking through the rails and came across this little H&M stunner. I love the neon pink across the bottom. £1.
The children’s books were on offer – 2 for £1 so I picked up two Dirty Bertie books for the kids that look like they haven’t even been read. £1
Finally I had one last look at the rails and came across this. It may be my bargain of the year! An Armani Exchange best for £2!!!! The design is all beading and so pretty!
I dread to think how much this cost new. Definitely way above what I would pay but £2? Well who could resist?!?
So £6 and 20 minutes well spent on a sunny Saturday afternoon!
